John Portman graduated from Georgia Tech University in 1950 and he was native Atlantan born December 4, 1924. He is world known for his multi-storied Hotels. He built the Marriot Marquis in Atlanta in 1986 and the Hyatt Regency in 1968. He has built hotels around the world since his graduation. He recieved sucess quickly for his innovative atrium design within the hotel.
